Tachi Sword - More Info
The most traditional of our Samurai Swords for sale, Tachi swords are traditionally strongly curved with a blade longer than a Katana. They were developed centuries before the Katana and are worn with the edge facing down.
One of the earliest Samurai swords developed, Tachi were often paired with a Tanto in a Daisho (big-little sword set). Because they are worn with the cutting edge down, they were likely used as horseback weapons. Later replaced by the Katana, they experienced a resurgence before WWII during the Imperial restoration.
